The Greatness of Andrew Scheps

Andrew Scheps…this man will change how you think about music and how you approach music production and mixing completely ITB (“in the box” with software only). We had a chance to meet him at NAMM this last year and he was just as cool in person as he is in videos. In our opinion, one of the best videos to watch featuring Andrew is this lecture he gave at Oxford University entitled “What Comes Out Of The Speakers”. Yes, it’s long. But it will change you:

Andew Scheps giving a talk at the University of Oxford, Faculty of Music on 30th November 2017, entitled 'What comes out of the speakers". The talk was hosted by the Faculty of Music's EMPRES group. https://www.music.ox.ac.uk/research/projects/empres/ There is a Q&A session from 30 minutes onwards.

In addition to that video, here are some others that are absolutely worth your time to learn from:

In his 2015 Red Bull Music Academy lecture, Andrew Scheps imparted decades of recording knowledge, discussing everything from parallel compression and the intricacies of recording vocals to his work with Adele.
We caught up with Grammy award-winning mix engineer Andrew Scheps at the recent AES Convention in Los Angeles. With credits ranging from Adele to Jay-Z, via Black Sabbath and Johnny Cash, Scheps is one of the most sought-after mix engineers out there.
